This summer, Western Carolina University is offering three foundational electrical and computer engineering courses fully online. These summer courses<\/a>\u2014<\/strong>Network Theory, Network Theory II and Engineering Programming II\u2014<\/strong>are open to both WCU students and students from other institutions, and are asynchronous (study on your schedule), transfer-friendly, and taught by experienced WCU engineering faculty. They are part of WCU’s Electrical Engineering program<\/a><\/strong>, an ABET-accredited degree program.<\/p>\n At a Glance<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2705 100% online & asynchronous <\/p>\n June 3 \u2013 July 2, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n Direct current circuit analysis, Ohm\u2019s law, Kirchhoff\u2019s laws, nodal analysis and mesh analysis, Thevenin\u2019s theorem, source transformation, maximum power transfer, R-L, R-C, and RLC transient circuit analysis.<\/p>\n July 6 \u2013 August 5, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n Alternating current circuit analysis, phasors, Kirchhoff\u2019s laws, single-phase and 3-phase circuits, resonant circuits, filter networks, Laplace transforms, Fourier series, Fourier transforms, and Fourier analysis techniques.<\/p>\n June 3 \u2013 August 5, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n An Introduction to C\/C++ and programming concepts such as data structures and object-oriented programming, emphasizing applications in Computer Engineering on resource-limited machines such as calculations, encryption, data error detection, electrical\/mechanical systems modeling, and communication states\/transitions.<\/p>\n In addition to these courses, there are additional summer offerings for students already enrolled in WCU’s Engineering Technology – Technical Operations<\/a> program available through myWCU<\/a><\/strong> .<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n For Summer 2026, the tuition and fees<\/a> for EE 201, EE 202, and CPE 223\u2014each a 3\u2011credit\u2011hour residential undergraduate course offered online\u2014are the same per course. For these courses, students who are residents of North Carolina pay $558 in tuition and fees per course<\/strong> and out-of-state students pay $1,308 in tuition and fees per course<\/strong>*. These courses are delivered asynchronously fully online and are offered by WCU’s residential degree program (not WCU’s distance degree program).\u00a0 Students who are not currently enrolled at WCU must also pay a one\u2011time $65 application fee.
