“What inspired me to be in engineering is to see what I could do for the future of our world\u2014an efficient future and a clean future,” said Ariel Col\u00f3n-Rodr\u00edguez in a WCU student video<\/a> about his emotional journey growing up in Puerto Rico, relocating, discovering WCU, studying mechanical engineering, and preparing for graduate school.\u00a0<\/p>\n “(My dad) wanted to bring us all along, but he couldn\u2019t afford it. He told us, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m going to find a job, I\u2019m going to find a house, and I\u2019m going to bring you guys along a year later.’…If (my parents) didn\u2019t do that sacrifice, I wouldn\u2019t be where I am today,” Col\u00f3n-Rodr\u00edguez said.<\/p>\n
