{"id":13750,"date":"2020-03-16T00:12:54","date_gmt":"2020-03-16T00:12:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/affiliate.wcu.edu\/cfc\/?p=13750"},"modified":"2021-05-17T10:56:47","modified_gmt":"2021-05-17T14:56:47","slug":"your-survey-and-polling-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/affiliate.wcu.edu\/cfc\/blog\/2020\/03\/16\/your-survey-and-polling-options\/","title":{"rendered":"Your Survey and Polling Options"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Surveying Your Students:\u00a0 WCU Supported Software<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Option #1:\u00a0 Canvas<\/strong><br \/>\nDon&#8217;t forget that a Canvas&#8217; Quiz also allows for surveys that don&#8217;t add to grades and that links to those surveys can be added to announcements and emails from Canvas.\u00a0 More information on <a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/t5\/Instructor-Guide\/How-do-I-create-a-survey-in-my-course\/ta-p\/782\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Surveys in Canvas<\/a>.\u00a0 This is a best option if you are only surveying one course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option #2:\u00a0 Microsoft Forms<\/strong><br \/>\nFor easily copied and shared polls, check out Microsoft Forms.\u00a0 If you haven&#8217;t clicked the &#8220;Waffle of Power&#8221; (apps launcher) in your email portal for Office365 (email.wcu.edu), then you may not have found all of the magical wonder hidden in O365.\u00a0 One of those is <a href=\"https:\/\/support.office.com\/en-us\/article\/introduction-to-microsoft-forms-bb1dd261-260f-49aa-9af0-d3dddcea6d69\">Microsoft Forms<\/a>.\u00a0 Forms is basically the Microsoft version of Google Sheets, and it is very easy to use and distribute.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option #3: Qualtrics<br \/>\n<\/strong>All WCU employees can log into Qualtrics and create surveys.\u00a0 You can get to Qualtrics by going to <a href=\"https:\/\/my.wcu.edu\">myWCU<\/a> and clicking the <strong>SURVEYS<\/strong> button in the quick links, or you can type in <a href=\"https:\/\/wcu.qualtrics.com\">wcu.qualtrics.com<\/a> into your browser and it will take you to the log in page.\u00a0 The learning curve for Qualtrics is a bit steeper than Forms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Option #4: Poll Everywhere<br \/>\n<\/strong>PollEverywhere is already a part of many of your class experiences.\u00a0 Remember that PollEverywhere is not really designed as a survey tool but rather as a live polling tool.\u00a0 It will really only be useful to you in an online environment if you couple it with your synchronous virtual classroom tool (Zoom, Collaborate, or Teams) and from our point of view, it may be more difficult to be running the virtual meeting tool and Poll everywhere than to use the more limited polling tools already available in those environments.\u00a0 If you have a number of existing PE polls, however, it might be a good option for you.\u00a0 We are not advising PollEverywhere as a solution during the emergency online period in Spring of 2020.<\/p>\n<p>For all of these, call or email ITHelp first and they should be able to get you started.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Surveying Your Students:\u00a0 WCU Supported Software Option #1:\u00a0 Canvas Don&#8217;t forget that a Canvas&#8217; Quiz also allows for surveys that don&#8217;t add to grades and that links to those surveys [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":27,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[646,108],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-13750","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-canvas","category-edtech"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack-related-posts":[{"id":20313,"url":"https:\/\/affiliate.wcu.edu\/cfc\/blog\/2021\/10\/26\/new-canvas-features-for-october-2021\/","url_meta":{"origin":13750,"position":0},"title":"New Canvas Features for October 2021","author":"Jonathan Wade","date":"October 26, 2021","format":false,"excerpt":"Canvas New Features October 2021 Canvas provides updates to the platform every month without disruption to service.
