Presley Thornton Creery, 78, passed away peacefully in his home on October 15, 2023. He was born in Baltimore, MD, and raised in Richmond, VA. Mr. Creery was born to the late Presley Thornton Creery and Jennie Ruth Claybrooke Creery. In addition to his parents, Mr. Creery was also preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Ruth Creery.

After getting his degree from Western Carolina University, Mr. Creery served in the Army in Vietnam. He then returned to WCU, earning his master’s degree and marrying his wife, Katherine Creery. He contributed to various companies throughout his career before starting his own business and authoring a book focused on reducing labor turnover. Mr. Creery became disabled in mid-life due to the effects of Agent Orange exposure during his service in Vietnam. In recent years, he and his wife have volunteered with the VA, helping others that have served.

Presley is survived by his wife, Katherine Creery; daughter, Lisa Mackay (Richard); and son, William Creery.

A memorial service to celebrate Pres’ life will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Date and time wil be announced soon.
