Allan Ray Cartledge, 89, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Cartledge was born December 10, 1933, in Franklin, NC, to the late Cleveland L. and Addie Barnard Cartledge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Kilpatrick Cartledge and by a son, Jeffrey Allan Cartledge.
He was a graduate of Western Carolina University and served four years with the US Navy. Mr. Cartledge worked as a Program Analyst with NASA at the Johnson Space Center. Upon returning to NC and Asheville he worked in property management with the US Forestry Service.

Determined to give back to his community he volunteered for more than 20 years as a “handyman” in the women’s shelter, ABCCM. He is survived by his son, Randy Cartledge of Houston, TX.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2023, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
