Jason M. Conrad

Jason Michael Conrad passed away Dec. 13, 2024, at the age of 53. He was born on Feb. 23, 1971 in Gastonia, NC, to Rebecca Dilling Conrad and Michael Glenn Conrad. None of us expected Jason’s life to end so soon, and this is a devastating loss for all who knew him. He was a loving, nurturing man who had a unique energy and passion for life.

Jason graduated from Hunter Huss High School in 1989 and then graduated from Western Carolina University, where he was impressive on both the football team and the cheerleading squad. He was employed with Gaston County for over 30 years, working as an environmental health specialist as well as serving as a supervisor. He was known for being passionate about his work and for being a mentor to many of his colleagues. Jason had too many talents and hobbies to list them all. His love of nature, hiking, seeing live music, cooking, and dancing in the kitchen were all things he and Erica had in common and enjoyed often. He loved his twin sons with all his heart and delighted in spending time with them, especially playing guitar with Ryan and hiking with Will.

He was preceded in death by his dad, who he deeply missed since Jan. 2, 2019. He is survived by his wife; Erica Konyak; sons, William Jason Conrad and Ryan Michael Conrad; mother, Becky; brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Jennifer Conrad; niece and nephew, Hannah and Colby. He was also loved dearly by many cousins, extended family, and all of Erica’s family members.

A service to celebrate Jason’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 12, 2025 at First United Methodist Church of Gastonia with Reverend Justin Lowe and Becky Greene officiating. Family will greet friends after the service in the Gathering Place.
