Henry Philander Shook II

December 26, 1946 – December 20, 2024

Greensboro-Henry Philander Shook Il (Phil) of Greensboro, age 77, quietly slipped away from his loving wife, Marguerite Verble Jordan Shook (Maggie), who was by his side, on December 20, 2024. Surviving are his wife, Maggi;, two sons, Andy (Jamie), David (Elise); one daughter, Jennifer Jordan Mann (Jonathan;, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-mother, Gail Berry Shook, and sister, Christine Noell Shook. His father, HPS (Hank) and brother, Steve predeceased him.

Phil, as he was affectionally called by his many friends, graduated from Western Carolina University in 1969, where he was a member Phi Kappa Pi fraternity.

After college graduation and a decade in Asheville, Phil relocated to Greensboro where he met and married the love of his life, Maggie, and pursued careers that encompassed his many talents. He was a level three building inspector with Guilford County, and then became a general building contractor.

During subsequent moves to Savannah, GA and later Branford, CT, he took positions as zoning inspector for the respective cities. His last professional interest was as a financial advisor at Valic.

Phil was a 33rd degree Mason, Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He enjoyed belonging to the Greensboro Jaycees where he took pleasure in volunteering for many activities. He also was a boating enthusiast member of the Greensboro Power Squadron.

His greatest hobby and most amazing talent was redesigning and renovating the homes he and Maggie owned, and those of his friends.
