Pearlita Morris (Pearl), daughter of the late David & Rebecca Morris, was born on June 22, 1946, in the parish of St. Catherine, Jamaica. She was first a student at Pear Tree Grove Primary School. She then enrolled and graduated from Shortwood Teaches’ College in 1968. Afterwards she taught in a few local schools. Some time after she migrated to US and continued her pursuit of higher education. In the US she first attended Western Carolina University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Cum-laude, (1984). On November 13, 1983 she was inducted into ‘Kappa Delta Pi’ honour society. She continued her studies at the same University and graduated with a Master of Arts in Education, MBA, (1986). She then relocated to Florida, attended Miami-Dade Community College and graduated with an Associate in Science in Nursing (ADN)- (Accelerated Option) – RN. (1988). Pearl continued her pursuit, attended and graduated from FIU with a Certificate in Micro-computing (1999).
Pearl then embarked on a new career path-Nursing. She elected as her preferred focus of medicine: Neo-Natal. Her love, compassion and care for her patients were exemplary and well-known by her leaders and co-workers at Jackson Hospital. There she ‘ministered’ until her retirement in 2013. On Wednesday, October 22, 2025 she passed away.
She is survived by her sister, Delomi Morris (London), two brothers; Canute (Jamaica) and David. Sisters-in-law – Ivy Morris & Elaine Morris, nephews, nieces, other relatives and close friends.
She became an active member of Living Word Open Bible Church, after she got saved and continued until she transitioned to Bread of Bread of Life Ministries on March 1, 2015. There she remained engaged and active until she became ill. Her illness is now over and she now rests in the presence of her Saviour.
