Deanna J. Jordan

Deanna Jo Smith Jordan died in Louisville, KY on December 9, 2025. Deanna was born in Asheville, NC on September 25, 1949 to Horace William Smith, Sr., and Georgia DeBruhl Smith. She lived in Asheville for most of her life, and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Asheville. A graduate of Lee Edwards High School (class of 1967) and Western Carolina University (class of 1971), Deanna worked as a secretary at NC Cooperative Extension in Asheville for over 30 years.

Deanna also spent time and developed deep friendships in Greenville/Spartanburg, Boiling Springs, Helen, GA, and Louisville, KY. Deeply rooted in her Baptist faith, she was active in church throughout her life. One of her greatest priorities was caring for her family and community. Deanna was an avid ballroom dancer and enjoyed travel, new experiences, and a good bargain. She loved visiting zoos and attractions with her grandsons.

Deanna will be fondly remembered by her family, especially her daughter Virginia, daughter-in-law Emily, and grandchildren Silas and Oliver Noonan. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Lewis, her brother, George Smith, her nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Horace, and her nephew Staff Sergent Joseph Ray.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Asheville on Monday, December 22 at 11 a.m. Visitation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, Deanna’s family asks that you donate to MANNA Food Bank of Asheville or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in her memory.
