Ron E. Wimberly
Born on December 29, 1946, in Guilford County, North Carolina, to Erskin and Mary Kay Wimberly, Ron graduated from Hunter Huss High School and continued his education at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee.
On August 31, 1969, Ron married the love of his life, Mary Josephine McCrary at Etowah Baptist Church in Etowah, NC. Together, they shared a devoted marriage and raised two children, Ronald (Ronny) and Joelle. Ron later took great delight in his three grandchildren: Ryan, Julianne, and Ian.
For most of his life, Ron was a self-employed business owner who took immense pride in his work and served his community with integrity. A veteran of the United States Army, he enlisted in October 1969 and served honorably until his discharge in October 1975. He was also a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of High Point, as well as the Kernersville JC’s, Toastmasters, and various local veterans’ groups. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he was a long-standing member of West Market Street United Methodist Church.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judith Hannon. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; his children, Ronny and Joelle; his grandchildren, Ryan, Julianne, and Ian; and his sister, Norma Jean Gwinn. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
