William Q. Coyne
William graduated from Shelby High School in 2005 where he played football and other sports. He graduated from Western Carolina University in 2009. Early in his life, he demonstrated a passion of caring for others through his volunteerism and employment at Atrium Health Cleveland, lifeguarding at Shelby City Park and Cleveland Country Club, and at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He enjoyed spending time and traveling with his blended family and friends, especially enjoying holiday gatherings. When his condition of spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA2) progressed to the point he could no longer live independently, he entrusted his care to Atrium Health Cleveland Pines where he received exceptional care from the loving arms that embraced him there for seven years. More recently, Via Health Partners also participated in his care. He was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Shelby, NC.
In addition to his father, Matthew Coyne, preceding William to his heavenly home were his grandparents; William W.G. Coyne Sr, the Rev. Quincy O. Lyerly, Frankie and Roy Wilson, Lola and Hayden Ritchie, and Harold and Joann Cook; and a sister, Chasity Cook. William is survived by his parents, Rose and Daryl Cook of Shelby; his sisters, April Coyne Jackson (Devin) of Greer, SC, Angela Cook of Shelby, and Dianna Cook (fiancé Lucas Mello) of Kings Mountain; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
