Lorraine M. Royster

Lorraine Mattero Royster, 75, of Shelby passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at her home.

Born in Cleveland County, on October 4, 1950, she was a daughter of the late James Armand Mattero and Evangeline Willingham Mattero. She was a graduate of Shelby High School and Western Carolina University. Lorraine was retired from Cleveland County School System as a substitute teacher. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Shelby, and the Joy Sunday School Class. Her pride and joy was her family whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine M. Landreth.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of fifty-three years John Sylvester Royster; son, Bryan Royster and wife Kirsten of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Laura Bradley and husband Ben of Chapel Hill; sister, Carol Long of Greer, SC; two grandchildren, David Bradley of Raleigh and Justin Bradley of Rochester, NY.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Shelby.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Shelby with the Rev. Asher Panton officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston, NC.
