Mary G. Holland
Mary was born April 7, 1952, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Virginia Cox Duncan and George Thomas Duncan of Concord.
She was a 1970 graduate of Concord High School, where she played clarinet in the marching band. She later graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in education, where she met her beloved husband of 39 years, Steve Holland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Holland; her sister, Joy Rudolph; and her parents. Mary and Steve were married June 21, 1975, at First Presbyterian Church in Concord. They moved to Salisbury in 1979 to build a home and raise their family.
Mary is survived by her children: Abby Holland Walker and husband Chad Walker of Salisbury; Matthew Holland and wife Lauren Fisher Holland of Salisbury; and Seth Holland and wife Tiffany Moore Holland of Concord.
She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Peyton Holland, Grace Walker, Graham Walker, Carson Holland and Sawyer Holland.
Mary was a devoted educator, teaching for 21 years in Cabarrus County at Mount Pleasant Middle School and more than 10 years at Erwin Middle School and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. She enjoyed teaching math and early algebra.
She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she was a longtime member of the senior choir, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Hama Lingle Women’s Circle. She cherished fellowship with her church family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 1:30-3:15 p.m. prior to funeral services at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The funeral will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by graveside committal in the church cemetery.
