Wilma Cooper Brisson, 87, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Terra Bella in Salem. She was born on February 20, 1939, in Robbinsville, NC to the late James Pate Cooper and the late Essie Collins Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Zane Ray Brisson, Sr.; son, Zane Ray Brisson, JR.; sisters, Bernice Rogers and Betty Phillips.
Wilma graduated from Western Carolina University where she met and married the love of her life, Zane Ray Brisson in 1961. She was a devoted wife and mother and was a school teacher for many years. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her family to National Parks and other historic locations throughout our country.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Angie Ryder and husband Pete; brother, Bud Cooper (Jane); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Oakey’s South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM with officiating. Entombment will be at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines, NC.
