Fredrick (Freddie) Nelson Causby, Jr.

Fredrick (Freddie) Nelson Causby, Jr. passed away peacefully Monday, September 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and listening to George Strait (his all-time favorite entertainer).

Born in Burke County, NC on August 27, 1961. He was the son of the late Fredrick Nelson Causby, Sr and Genelle Morris Causby.

Freddie graduated from Freedom High School and Western Carolina University with a BS in Sports Management. While attending Western, he found the brotherhood of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He loved his PIKE brothers and keeping up with them through Facebook. He owned and operated Foothills Landscaping for a number of years before going to work for Blueridge Lawncare and Landscaping.

Freddie was a lifelong Green Bay Packers supporter and pulled them through for one final comeback victory of 18-17 this past Sunday. He also loved Fly Fishing on the Tuckaseegee. This was a love developed while attending WCU. He was a Ducks Unlimited volunteer for over twenty-five years and wholeheartedly loved all of the friendships developed through this organization. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family, whom he loved with all of his heart.

Freddie is survived by his wife, Amy and his greatest accomplishments in life, his four daughters, Courtney (Ethan), Catherine, Carrigan and Camelia (Zachary). His television watching and napping buddy, his grandson, Crew. Brothers-in-law Eric and Dennis (Nikki) Carswell. A lifelong best friend who was more like a brother Dennis Setzer of Statesville. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and his canine companion Tuckaseegee (Tuck).

The funeral will be on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11 a.m., Salem United Methodist Church. The service will be led by Reverend Norm Jones, Reverend David Bradley and Dennis Setzer. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.

His Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Brothers will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Christopher Shatley and staff, Dr Salvador and UNC Cancer Center as well as the Emergency Department and ICU Staff at UNC Blue Ridge.
