Carl “Wayne” Britt

Carl Wayne Britt, 55, of Woodfin, NC, passed away suddenly on December 2, 2024, at Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC.

Wayne was born in Poncé, Puerto Rico, and had lived in several locations around the world, but for the past 20 years had resided in the Asheville area.

He served in the U.S. Navy once out of high school and then pursued a career in electrical engineering, eventually earning his bachelors degree from Western Carolina University, with honors. He had been employed at WilsonArt in Fletcher since his arrival to WNC and was dedicated to his team of co-workers, all of whom he held in high regard.

Wayne was someone who loved being with people – even joining yoga classes and hiking clubs to expand his circle of friends. He also served his community by working with his HOA and the Woodfin town council. Always willing to help, he even coordinated a water relief effort in his neighborhood after hurricane Helene and lent a hand to anyone in need.

He had a love for learning and challenging himself to pick up new skills. Of note, he had developed a passion for photography and gardening which became a central part of his connection to nature and brought him great joy.

He is survived by his only child, Rose Riley Britt; his mother, Grace Nazario Britt; his father, Carl Glenn Britt; his siblings, Carl Rodney Britt, Vivian Gasbarro, Erika Starling, Carlo Britt; in-laws, Beth Britt and Marc Gasbarro; and his former spouse, Jennifer Postles. He also had an extended family of nieces and nephews that include Caitee, Carree, Reece, Chloee, Annell Grace, Annie Marie and Athena. All of his family truly hope that those who knew Wayne will carry memories filled with the laughter and love he shared. He will be missed.
