Estelle W. Pendergrass

Estelle was born to the late Henry Terrell Walters and Trula Wagner Walters in Thomasville. She was a member of the final graduating class of Pilot High School and graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College with a degree in elementary education. She also earned her Master’s in Reading from Western Carolina University. After college, she worked with countless children and families in the counties of Davidson and Catawba for 35 years as an educator/reading specialist.

She was also an avid supporter and volunteer of many service organizations over the years, most recently the Pilot Lions Club, the Sandwich Ministry of Grace Lutheran, and Cooperative Community Ministry.

In addition to her parents, Estelle was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Edward Lindon, and her son George Pendergrass. Surviving is her daughter Leah Pendergrass, nephew Nathan Lindon (Samantha and their son Garrett), Son Steven Pendergrass (Renee), and granddaughter Kaleigh Osborn (Garrett and their three sons Greyson, Chad, and Easton). Estelle is also survived by her little best friend (her dog), and a beautiful assortment of cousins, neighbors, and friends who have become family over the years.

The family would especially like to thank the staff of Hospice of Davidson County, and all those who have been with us on this journey. Having you by our side made such a difference and we are so very appreciative.

A gathering of friends will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, at the J. C. Green and Sons Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Thomasville. Estelle loved celebrating the Christmas season; attendees for both events are encouraged to wear their holiday best or funniest!
