Joyce E. English
Joyce Elaine English, 64, of Murphy, N.C., passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2025.
She was born in Cherokee County, N.C., to the late Broadus Dockery Jr. and Dorothy Worley Dockery.
Joyce enjoyed going to the lake, working outside and mowing. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joyce was the best math teacher in Cherokee County while teaching at Andrews and Murphy schools. She also taught in Union County, Ga.
She was loved by all of her nephews and nieces.
Joyce was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” English; three sons, Caleb English (Krysta), Gavin English, and Levi English (Hannah), all of Murphy; four sisters, Doris Smith of Hayesville, Wanda Dockery (Maxey) of Copperhill, Tenn., Ruth Dockery (Mark) of Murphy, and Mary Murphy (David) of Blairsville, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Kynadee, Abigaile, Asher and Archie.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Grape Creek Baptist Church. The Revs. Steve West and Kenneth Dockery will officiate.
