Keith E. Galloway

Keith E. Galloway, born on April 3, 1948, in Buncombe County at the old Biltmore Hospital, passed away after a short illness on March 18, 2025, at Mission Hospital. He was 76 years old.

Keith’s educational journey began at Morganton High School, where he laid the foundation for his academic pursuits. He furthered his education at Western Carolina University, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.

During his time of service, Keith dedicated three years to the United States Army as a Radio Intelligence Operator. His role included assisting with Morse Code communication, and he notably completed a tour at Shemya, Alaska, located on the remote end of the Aleutian Chain. This experience fostered within him a profound sense of duty and commitment.

Professionally, Keith worked within the North Carolina Prison System at Foothills Correctional Institute, contributing significantly to the community and showcasing his commitment to public service.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Thelma Ellis Kilpatrick Galloway, along with his stepson, James Kilpatrick and his wife, Angie. Keith is also remembered by his brothers, Brian Alan Galloway and Lee Henry Galloway II, both residing in Whittier, North Carolina.

Keith was predeceased by his father, Lee Henry Galloway, and his mother, Edith Smiley Galloway, who both played critical roles in shaping the values and principles that guided him throughout his life.
