Kim T. Whitehurst

Kim Tyler Whitehurst, 69, after a long and faithful search, was found on Friday, January 17. The family is left to find peace in his passing. He was born in Greenville, NC on March 22, 1955, to the late Juanita Marflin Horner and James Elbert Whitehurst. After graduating from R.J. Reynolds class of ’74, he attended Western Carolina University and Regent University where he received his Masters in divinity. Kim first worked as a Health Inspector in Winston-Salem before he was called by God to become a Christian Counselor. He found great fulfillment in counseling and enjoyed this calling, working at Associates of Christian Counseling and the Mobile Crisis Unit at Forsyth Medical Center. He loved playing the guitar, singing, writing poetry and quality time with family. Kim also enjoyed spending time in the mountains and hiking.

Mr. Whitehurst is survived by his children, Sarah Whitehurst (Alec Shellberg), Sheila Whitehurst, Shannon Whitehurst (Reid Nance), Sam Whitehurst (Keri), Stephen Whitehurst and Syd Whitehurst; grandchildren Amelia, Killian, Natalya, Sylvia, Teagan and River; brother Alton Whitehurst (Vivian); sisters Kathy W. Burrow and Tina W. Nash (Steve); niece Danielle; great niece Izzy; nephews Jon, Jason and Lee Jr; and the mother of his children, Karen Whitehurst. He was preceded in death by brother Jim Whitehurst and son-in-law Spencer Reaves.
