Larry “Tutt” N. Tuttle

Larry Neal Tuttle “Tutt”, 91, passed away peacefully at Four Seasons Hospice in Flat Rock on January 22, 2025. He was born December 9, 1933 in Mayodan, NC to Neal and Earlie Tuttle. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jerome Tuttle and sister, Patti Atwood.

Tutt is survived by his wife, Maggie (Margaret) Harris Tuttle; children, Scott Tuttle, Lynette Tuttle, Tanya Camille (Tom) and Chad Hughes and his precious grandson, Kesler Hughes.

After graduating from high school, Tutt served in the US Army and then graduated from Western Carolina University. While there he was a member of the WCU baseball team. Tutt loved sports of all kinds and remained a dedicated Catamount Fan until his passing. He and Maggie attended many game days in Cullowhee through the years. This was one of their favorite things to do together. They also shared a love of golf. Their home on the Black Mountain Golf Course was the perfect backdrop for one of Tutt’s favorite activities. He thoroughly enjoyed his many years with the Black Mountain Men’s Golf League and just loved playing golf whenever he could do so. Tutt combined his love of golf and his love for his alma mater by placing a Catamount Gap sign on the number 8 hole on the golf course. Black Mountain is also Warhorse country and Tutt had a great time being part of the Warhorse Chain Crew on Friday nights.

Tutt came to the Swannanoa Valley to work at Northrop, Inc. and Black Mountain became his home. After working at Northrop, Inc., Tutt started his own successful printing business. He operated Graphic Associates and then Black Mountain Printing until his retirement several years ago.

Tutt and Maggie were blessed to be able to enjoy forty-six wonderful years together and were married for thirty-two of those years. Tutt was a quiet, funny, loving, compassionate husband, father, friend and colleague. He will be so very missed.
