Matthew E. Robinson

Born in Catawba County on April 24, 1971, he was the son of the late Gary Edward Robinson and Patricia White McCaskill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Nancy Hollar and his grandparents.

Matt graduated from Fred T. Foard High School in 1989. He achieved a bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University and a master’s degree from Lenoir Rhyne University. Matt was an Air Force veteran and served with the Conover Police Department. He was a proud Duke Energy employee for 34 years. Matt was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He will be remembered by his witty humor, kind heart and ability to bring out the best in everyone around him. He valued investing in the next generation and taught classes at both Duke Energy and Catawba Valley Community College.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Elaine Hollar Robinson of the home; daughters Miranda Elaine Minton and husband Tyler of Hickory, Madelaine Gracie Smith and husband Luke of Las Cruces, NM; grandsons Hezekiah Minton of Hickory and Bennett Smith of Las Cruces, NM; sister Tina Fowler and husband John of Granite Falls, brother Joshua Robinson and wife Katrina of Denver; sister Stacey Stalvey of Hickory; father-in-law Carl Hollar; numerous nieces, nephews and his extended Duke Energy family.
