Bob E. Wilson

Robert E. (Bob) Wilson, 77, of Dunlap and Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday September 2, 2025 at his home in Chattanooga. Bob was born June 8, 1948 and was a son of the late Raymond and Locky Wilson of Marion, North Carolina.

Bob was born and raised in rural McDowell County, NC and attended Pleasant Gardens High School, graduating in 1966. He graduated in 1970 from Western Carolina University majoring in Computer Science. His first job was with Burlington Industries in Greensboro, NC. Later he moved to Washington DC as a consultant, and in 1985 he started at MCI Telecommunications, first as a a project manager before advancing into leadership roles as Director of Technical Security and then moving to Richardson TX as Director of Engineering. He represented MCI in several international forums that took him around the world, instilling in him a life-long love of travel.

After an early retirement, he and Cindy moved to the mountains outside of Dunlap, TN where they built their dream home. Over the years they shared their lives and their land with various cats and dogs. Bob became a Master Gardener and a volunteer with the Fredonia Fire Department, He also pursued his love of sports cars by joining the Choo Choo Bimmers BMW club, eventually serving as President for several years. But he really found himself when he started making jewelry, a hobby which became a business that allowed him to express both precision and artistry. Bob and Cindy were regular vendors at the Chattanooga Market and other events in the area until his illness.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia (Cindy) and his brother Joseph and sister-in-law Candace. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 26th at 4pm at the Monkeytown Brewery 724 Ashland Terrace in Chattanooga. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Chattanooga Humane Education Center or the American Cancer Society.
