Christy E. Dunlap

Christy Elaine Dunlap, age 54, of Swannanoa, unexpectedly went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 16, 2026. She was affectionately known as “Kiki” by her family.

Christy was the first-born daughter of Allen and Shirley Dunlap, born on November 21, 1971. She was a proud graduate of the 1990 class of Owen High School and 1994 class of Western Carolina University with a major in Interior Design and Architecture. She spent three decades following her passion for design. Whether she was drafting award-winning layouts featured in magazines or working with her colleagues at Homesource, Christy had a way of making the world a more beautiful place. Her creative spirit also led her to become a published author of “Blood and Roses”. When she wasn’t immersed in a book or a computer game, she was devoted to her family and her faith at Grove Stone Baptist Church. Christy’s life was a testament to her love for the Lord, and her memory will forever be a blessing to those she leaves behind.

In addition to her parents, Allen and Shirley, those left to cherish her memories are her sister, Angela Dunlap of Swannanoa; nieces, Emma (Chance Watkins), Charlotte, and Roseanna; nephew, Daniel; great nephews, Wesley and James Henry; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Grove Stone Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at 12:00pm at the church with Pastor Michael Long officiating.

All flowers should be delivered to Grove Stone Baptist Church. If you would like to make a memorial donation in Christy’s memory, please send contributions to Grove Stone Baptist Church, 1568 Grovestone Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
