Ken W. Baucom
Ken was born in Concord, NC on January 9, 1948. He was the son of Aris Clayton Baucom and Thelma Little Baucom.
Ken graduated from Winecoff High School in Concord, NC. He attended Wingate College and graduated from Western Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Ken served in the US Army in the 82 nd Airborne, first at Ft. Bragg in NC and was later stationed in Germany for 18 months during the Cold War.
Ken had a very successful career as a Real Estate Broker, Developer and Entrepreneur. He co-founded Pickering & Company, Inc with Annette Pickering who later became his wife. He took immense pleasure in developing numerous communities in both Virgina and North Carolina.
Ken loved the outdoors. He enjoyed snow skiing, hunting, fishing, and sailing. Ken and his wife Annette owned a home in Pine Knoll Shores, NC where he took his boat offshore fishing as often as possible. Ken and Annette enjoyed attending sporting events and traveling and vacationing with the family. Ken and Annette are members of Gospel Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC where he enjoyed participating in Men’s group activities.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife Annette, her beloved daughter, Julie Smith, who always called him Dad, his brother Larry C. Baucom, his sister Kay Baucom Caldwell, nephews Clay Baucom and Adam Caldwell and his nieces Jennifer Caldwell Wilhelm and Lauren Baucom. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
