He is survived by\u00a0his wife of 64 years, Shirley Hill Denny; his son Blake;\u00a0his son Scott and spouse Monica; his daughter Diana\u00a0Bowling and spouse Chris; grandchildren Bauer,\u00a0Lauren, and Abigail Bowling; his sister Susie Beasley;\u00a0and niece Jodie- Michele McCord.<\/p>\n<p>Bob was born June 24th , 1932 in Nantahala, NC and was the son of\u00a0William Howard Denny and Eller Dills Denny. He graduated from Otter\u00a0Creek H.S. in 1950 and continued his education at Gardner-Webb Jr.\u00a0College before transferring to Western Carolina University, where he\u00a0received both a Bachelor\u2019s (1954) and a Master\u2019s (1963) degree in Public\u00a0Education. He later obtained a Specialist in Education degree from the\u00a0University of Georgia in 1976.<\/p>\n<p>Bob\u2019s public education career spanned 36 years. Although he later\u00a0became an administrator, his first job was teaching history and coaching\u00a0basketball at Nantahala H.S. in the community where he grew up. He\u00a0worked in public school systems in North Carolina, Georgia, and Alaska\u00a0and held administrative positions as an Asst. Principal, Principal, Asst.\u00a0Superintendent, and Superintendent. He said his favorite and most\u00a0enjoyable position was as Principal of East Hall High School in Hall\u00a0County, GA from 1967-73.<\/p>\n<p>After retiring in 1992, Bob and Shirley returned to Hall County and built a\u00a0home on Lake Lanier. They bought a motor home and extensively\u00a0explored the USA and Canada, and during a trip to Nova Scotia were\u00a0really surprised to encounter the St. Paul Prime Timers travel group.\u00a0During his final years, he enjoyed fishing, reading, visiting his family,\u00a0travelling, volunteering for projects and activities at church, and spoiling\u00a0his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves\u00a0baseball and was an avid fan of the University of North Carolina Tar\u00a0Heels.
