He graduated from Chase High School in 2002, he then went to Isothermal Community College graduating from there in 2004, and then he went to Western Carolina University and got a bachelor\u2019s degree in engineering in 2010. He loved to read, which made him someone you would want on your trivia team for all the useless facts he knew. Phil was an Electronics\/Computer Engineering Instructor at ICC. He also loved to cook and enjoyed hunting. Phil was an avid conservative. He attended Holly Springs Baptist Church for many years. Phil was preceded in death by his grandparents, Phillip and Ruth Head, and James Thomas Pruett.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents, Ray and Judy Pruett of Rutherfordton, Phil is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Amy Wilson Pruett, his son and daughter, Blaine Thomas Pruett and Aubrey June Pruett, both of Boiling Springs, NC, and his son, Carter James Pruett of the home, his sister, Sunni Pressley and husband Jeramy, of Monroe, NC, his brother, Clint Pruett of Rutherfordton, his nieces and nephews, Cole and Camden Pressley, Katie Ruth and Nolan Pruett, Dallas Moore, Heath Smith, Zaylee, Harper, Storm, and Atlas Wilson, Jayda, Lucas, Kaleb, and Penelope Davis.<\/p>\n<p>The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 5, 2026, at McMahan&#8217;s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Holly Springs Baptist Church at 3PM, Friday, February 6, 2026, with Reverend Scott Moneyham officiating. Phil will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holly Springs Senior Citizens Home, 1881 Big Island Rd. Rutherfordton NC 28139.
