KINGS MOUNTAIN<\/strong>– Robert \u201cGordon\u201d Brown grew up in North Wilkesboro, NC. He attended Wilkes Central High School, Wilkes Community College, AppState , and Western Carolina University where he earned a BS degree in Emergency Medical Care. His chosen profession was in Emergency Medical Services and he retired from Mecklenburg EMS Agency as a Paramedic Crew-Chief after 30 years.<\/p>\n Gordon was very active in Scouting for many years, and he was a proud Eagle Scout, A God and Country award holder, and a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow in Eswau Huppeday lodge. He loved anything to do with the outdoors including camping, hunting and fishing.<\/p>\n Gordon is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carmen Brown; parents, Robert and Lutrelle Brown; sister, Melissa Brown.. He is survived by his daughter, Nichole Schmidt and husband Andy; brother, James Brown and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Kelsey Costner and partner Jasmine Nathan, Robert Costner, Dalton Costner and fianc\u00e9 Catherine Brown, Virginia Schmidt and fiance Bryan Holman, and Noah Schmidt; and great-grandchildren, Connor, Layla, Ivy, Winter, and August. Also survived by sister-in-law, Ginger Smith and husband Leon.<\/p>\n A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. The gathering will start at 1:00PM with stories and memories shared by Gordon’s loved ones with a roundtable to follow.
