Cullowhee, NC —\u00a0Betty Farmer, professor of communication at Western Carolina University and business consultant and trainer, has earned a\u00a0Social and Emotional\u00a0Intelligence\u00a0Coaching\u00a0Certification from the Institute for Social and Emotional Intelligence.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ISEI<\/span>\u00a0is an international learning and research organization that supports coaches, human resources professionals, and other organizational leaders to build social and emotional intelligence in the workplace and life beyond work. Farmer joins the ranks of approximately 1200 ISEI certified coaches worldwide.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to have completed this certification course.\u00a0Emotional\u00a0and social\u00a0intelligence\u00a0is\u00a0absolutely\u00a0essential in the workplace, and\u00a0I\u00a0enjoy\u00a0helping people develop their skills in this area. It\u2019s work that makes a difference,\u201d\u00a0said Farmer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Emotional intelligence (EI or EQ) encompasses many skill sets, such as\u00a0empathy,\u00a0stress management, resilience, effective conflict management, catalyzing change, teamwork and collaboration and inspirational leadership, among others.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While Farmer has been providing workshops on emotional intelligence\u00a0since 2018, this certification enables her to administer the Social and Emotional Intelligence Profile\u00a0<\/span>(SEIP\u00ae), which is the most comprehensive, fully validated and statistically reliable\u00a0social and emotional intelligence instrument\u00a0on the market today.\u00a0After completing the\u00a0SEIP\u00ae, individuals receive a 40-page report with scores on\u00a0and tips for developing\u00a026 emotional and social intelligence competencies.\u00a0In addition to the individual version, there is a 360 version of the\u00a0SEIP\u00ae\u00a0that enables an individual to get feedback from their workplace colleagues.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis\u00a0certification\u00a0also gives me\u00a0access to\u00a0the most up-to-date research, case studies, and tools, such as assessments and exercises, that I can use with clients. I feel well-equipped\u00a0to now add social and emotional intelligence coaching to my consulting and training offerings,\u201d\u00a0said Farmer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
