{"id":18356,"date":"2025-03-31T20:00:45","date_gmt":"2025-03-31T20:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/affiliate.wcu.edu\/comm\/?p=18356"},"modified":"2025-04-30T06:16:31","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T06:16:31","slug":"dr-mindy-weathers-receives-tenure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/affiliate.wcu.edu\/comm\/blog\/2025\/03\/31\/dr-mindy-weathers-receives-tenure\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Mindy Weathers Receives Tenure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Mindy Weathers of the communication department will receive tenure this spring at Western Carolina University.<\/p>\n<p>Weathers has been a professor at WCU for two years and was a tenured Associate Professor at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Dedication to academically recognized health communication research and student success is what Weathers believes significantly contributed to her acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>Receiving tenure will allow Dr. Weathers to pursue more research projects while recognizing her past contributions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt allows me the freedom to explore innovative teaching and research methods and engage in deeper community involvement through my scholarly work,\u201d said Dr. Weathers.<\/p>\n<p>Weathers also wanted to thank her colleagues and all her previous and current students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir support and collaboration have been invaluable, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to make a positive impact both within and outside the university,\u201d said Weathers.<\/p>\n<p>Tenure is considered based on factors including service, the research professor\u2019s conduct and university service.<\/p>\n<p>Tenure applications are typically allowed after five years of teaching.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Mindy Weathers of the communication department will receive tenure this spring at Western Carolina University.
