Students arrived in downtown Sylva hours before the start of the event in order to help set up booths and equipment.
Although it started to rain just as the team was about to go on-air, the crew continued with their broadcast thanks to some creative ideas.
As most of the department cameras could not be left out in the rain, students had their phones connected to WheeTV\u2019s livestream<\/a> in order to capture footage.
Several different guests were interviewed including Mayor of Sylva, Johnny Phillips and Chancellor Brown.
Each guest gave their thoughts on the event and even those working on the simulcast had the chance to make their voices heard.
\u201cMy goal has been to lead, not as general manager, but as a student and to create an environment where my peers and I are not timid by remote broadcasts and engaging with the community,\u201d said 95.3WWCU general manager Halle Stanley.
\u201cThe event was a great way to increase the visibility of the department, student media and build rapport with the community.
\u201cSeeing how the crew stepped up to overcome the rain and any other technical challenges made me very proud of everyone involved,\u201d said WheeTV general manager Jacob Pendergraph. \u201cI\u2019m going to miss doing these amazing events with this incredible group of people.\u201d
