The mission of WCU is too important to completely abandon the work of faculty governance and the shared responsibility Faculty have with the Administration to the continuity of the institution. This is so even in the face of a crisis that has disrupted much of the life of the University.

The Faculty Senate meeting scheduled for Wednesday March 18th at 3 pm will proceed as planned, but in keeping with the CDC social distancing measures followed across the UNC system, this regular meeting will take place using Zoom video conferencing. On the agenda we hope to hear a joint report of the Chancellor and Provost’s office on the measures we have taken to respond to the NC Governor Cooper emergency declaration to face the COVID-19 global pandemic, which prompted Chancellor Kelli Brown to order the shift from face-to-face instruction to online teaching where possible. We will also hear a report from the Coulter Faculty Commons on the search for a new Learning Management System and an update from the Faculty Affairs Council on changes to the Student Assessment of Instruction, among other items.
