Summary of Novel:

”The long Walk to Water” is by Linda Sue Park. The book is about two protagonist in two time areas that interlock at the end.One of the protagonist ”Salva” was a boy in civil war bidden lands who escaped but was lost from his family.Once ”Salva” escaped he began his long journey to find anyone or anything.He eventually finds a group who later on find a refugee camp.Among this group is his only guardian around him which is his ”Uncle Jewiir”.Once his Uncle and ”Salva” celebrated they continued their journey to ”Itang” which has a refugee camp.Then when they were about to eat suddenly men came across them and took ”Salva’s” Uncle’s gun and tied his Uncle to a tree and shot him with a killing bullet.After ”Salva” grieved he continued to the original destination of the refugee camp and crosses a deadly river to do so.Eventually,”Salva” finds out that in the refugee camp there is a program to send a couple thousand people to the U.S.A to start a new life. Suspensefully ”Salva” waited and hoped to be on the list to be able to go to the U.S.Then one day ”Salva” was selected for the trip to go to the U.S where he stayed with a family and searched for his father and found him after many years. He found out that the water in Sudan was dirty and was determined to bring fresh clear water to Sudan. The other protagonist “Nya” was one of those strugglers in Sudan then men came to her village with an idea to build a school also a water well to help their village.Later on the two protagonist interlock because the leader of the group of men was ”SALVA”!

Problem:

Sudan is in a civil war and the country is not as advanced as the U.S so many people don’t go to school also they walk a long time to get dirty water.

Solution:

The HPA is an organization that owns a refugee camp in Sudan.Like in the story they have a similar program to the book that brings food and water to the people of Sudan but also bring people back to the U.S.Many people in the organization are 24/7 workers who find relatives of many people to bring family together and they check hospital and death records to put families together.To get the money to support this organization they get 0.5% of government taxes but they also have a sponsor Pringles and MTN Dew.The protagonist can find this company and the HPA can help their situation or remove them from it and supply food and water also help get them a job and find people who shelter them till they support themselves and find a job with the HPA helps with since many workers are refugees.
