By Mary Pope Osborne
Jack and Annie are a brother and sister that go on adventures and solve riddles. In this book, they use the tree house to go to the Amazon Rain Forest. Morgan le Fay is under a spell. Jack and Annie must find the second object to break the spell. They encounter giant ants. They travel by boat down the Amazon and learn facts about the rain forest. They see all sorts of other animals like a snake, a monkey, and a jaguar. They get a mango from the monkey and it is what they are supposed to take back to Frog Creek. After reading this book we wanted to know how climate change affects the rain forest.
Polar Bears Past Bedtime- Summary
By Mary Pope Osborne
Jack and Annie are led to the tree house by an owl. Morgan le Fay challenges to solve an ancient riddle written in a scroll. This story takes them to the Arctic. They meet a seal hunter. The seal hunter gives them polar bear masks. Jack uses the Arctic book to learn facts about the Arctic. Along the way, they stay in an igloo and travel by dogsled. They meet polar bears, too. The masks are the solution to the riddle. Climate change causes problems in the Arctic. After reading this book, we read nonfiction to find out how the increase in temperature harms the Arctic habitat.
What a great story about working to save the world. The special effects, costumes, and props were impressive. Also, the repetition of reducing your carbon footprint helped to reinforce your ideas. I also liked that the suggestions were small steps that every person could do on a daily basis. Good Work!
