You know about the Staff Senate on campus, but did you know there is a Staff Assembly, representing staff interests across the UNC System?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he UNC Staff Assembly is an advisory body of SHRA and EHRA Non<\/span>–<\/span>Faculty who represent the\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>taff of the 17 schools that make up the University of North Carolina<\/span>\u00a0System.\u00a0 Established in 2006 by President\u00a0<\/span>Erskine Bowles<\/span>, the purpose of the group is to advocate for staff issues and represent staff perspective to the senior leadership of the System Office and the Board of Governors.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Staff Assembly serves in parallel function with the University Faculty Assembly and the Association of Student Governments to constructively address the concerns and interests of the respective campuses and the System.\u00a0 The goal is to improve communications, understanding, and morale throughout the campus communities, and to increase efficiency and productivity in campus and System operations.<\/span>\u00a0 To learn more, check out the\u00a0<\/span>Staff Assembly website<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Each campus has three delegates appoint<\/span>ed to<\/span>\u00a0the Staff Assembly from their home Senate.\u00a0 The current three delegate<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0for WCU are Ben Pendry (Staff Senate Chair), Alison Joseph (Past Chair), and Deidre Hopkins (Chair Elect).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Staff Assembly also has an Executive Board comprised of member<\/span>s\u00a0<\/span>elected directly by the Assembly.\u00a0 Jason Foster just completed an elected\u00a0<\/span>three<\/span>-year term with the Assembly<\/span>\u00a0(as a general delegate, Technologist, and then Delegate-at-Large)<\/span>, and he has served an instrumental role in the function of\u00a0<\/span>the Assembly, most notably with the provision of paid\u00a0<\/span>parental<\/span>\u00a0leave.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Next time you see Jason, please thank him for his service!\u00a0 We are also excited to announce that Alison Joseph was just elected as a member of the Staff Assembly Executive Committee, in a competitive Delegate-at-Large race.\u00a0 Congratulations, Alison!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
