What do a bowling ball, a Pride of the Mountains Band uniform, and the Memorial Stadium building plaque all have in common?<\/p>\n
They are all treasures that belong to Western Carolina University\u2019s history! My name is Amy Archambault and I’m working as the university history archival technician this year for WCU’s Mountain Heritage Center. I’m tasked with locating and inventorying anything that has to do with the history of Western Carolina University. I would love to have you join me in the “treasure hunt!\u201d<\/p>\n
What might university history look like? I\u2019ve mentioned a few things already, but objects or documents that tell the story of your department, program, group, etc. are a good place to start. These might look like publications, annual reports, foundational documents (charters, program reports, etc.), equipment or tools, newsletters, event posters, etc.<\/p>\n
While I’m not collecting any items, I’m happy to document the objects and note their location for future historical research\/use. While the 150th anniversary of WCU won\u2019t be until 2039, it\u2019s never too early to begin preserving and documenting your history!
