Our next WNC Elementary STEM Community of Practice virtual gathering will take place on January 21st from 4:00-5:00pm on Zoom.  After a brief introduction, our highlight will focus on Eco-Explorers: Diving Into Hellbender Conservation and will be led by Tammy Kiser, a fifth grade teacher at Rosman Elementary, and Liz Beck, Learning Designer with RootEd.

In the spring of 2024, 5th grade students at Rosman Elementary designed free stickers for folks in their community to help save the local hellbender salamander, all while learning ecosystem standards and developing literacy skills. This year, they’re rejoining the fight by developing outreach materials that the Chattanooga Zoo can use to support their Hellbender Headstart program on Salamander Saturday at the Zoo in May.

After the presenters share, we will engage in breakout room discussions to connect and collaboratively consider ways to apply ideas in our own settings.  Click here to register.  A Zoom link will be shared with people who register.  If you have questions, email Patricia Bricker.
