NCAMP participated in the “Understanding Heirs’ Property at the Community Level” Train-the-Trainer Workshop in Raleigh, North Carolina, on October 29–30, 2024, alongside USDA’s Farm Service Agency and other partners. For mediators who strive to settle complicated disputes involving farm succession and land ownership, such as NCAMP’s Mediation Director Bob Holbert and colleagues from FARM-VA, this training offered invaluable insights.
Mediators can benefit greatly from the training, which addressed the principles of heirs’ property, ways to keep land from becoming heirs’ property, and solutions for current instances. The information acquired at this session will strengthen the state-certified mediation programs of FARM-VA and NCAMP, enabling them to assist with farm succession initiatives in every county in North Carolina and Virginia.
