John Hahn, the chairman of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Agriculture Committee, met with NCAMP’s Mediation Director, Bob Holbert, on Monday, October 28, 2024, to talk about their common objectives in assisting the agriculture community. The meeting, which took place in Raleigh, North Carolina, concentrated on three main issues that affect farmers in the state: farm succession planning, farm nuisance lawsuits, and the voluntary mediation program of the Dispute Resolution Commission (DRC).
Conflicts resulting from farming practices that impact both farmers and their neighbors are frequently the subject of farm nuisance litigation. Holbert and Hahn investigated how NCAMP’s mission may support the Bar Association’s efforts in this area, acknowledging that mediation could be a more effective way to settle these concerns.
