The Eastern NC Farm Succession School was held in Kinston, NC, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Lenoir County Cooperative Extension Center. Another good meeting with excellent information from the different specialists! Presenters included Noah Rannells and Stephen Bishop of NC FarmLink, who gave an overview of the farm succession process; Bob Holbert of NCAMP/FARM-VA, who presented the services offered by these two certified state mediation programs; Nicholas Brown, who spoke on estate and capital gains taxes; Anita King from NC Forever Farms, who presented on conservation easements; attorneys from Ward & Law, who provided instruction on estate planning; and finally, the keynote speaker, Andrew Branan from NC State University, whose presentation was entitled “The Farm Transition Puzzle.”
