June 18, 1943 – April 9, 2025

Jo Anna Harbison Johnson, 81, of Neptune Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Morganton, North Carolina, on June 18, 1943, to Cecil H. Harbison Sr. and Phyllis B. Harbison. Jo Anna brought warmth, strength, and grace into the lives of everyone who knew her. She met her husband, Robert Johnson Sr., at Western Carolina University, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1965. For 62 years, she shared a devoted and loving marriage with her husband, Robert Johnson Sr., and together, they built a beautiful life centered around family and unwavering love.

Jo Anna was the matriarch and glue of the Johnson family. Her wisdom, strength, and compassion anchored generations. There was no problem she couldn’t solve, no heart she couldn’t comfort, and no challenge too big when she was by your side. Her greatest accomplishment-and her proudest legacy-was raising her children and grandchildren with love, guidance, and strength.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Johnson Sr.; her children, Angie Johnson Mueller, Robert (JoAnn) Johnson Jr., and Kari (Matthew) Thayer; her cherished grandchildren, Madison Mueller, Duncan Johnson, Bailey (Nick) Uruburu, Peyton (Jake) Stalnaker, Isabelle Thayer, and Holden Thayer; and her great-granddaughter, Presley JoAnna. She also leaves behind her dear brothers, Philip (Karen) Harbison Sr. and John Harbison, and their families.

Jo Anna’s life was a testament to the power of unconditional love and quiet strength. She will be missed deeply but remembered always, living on in the hearts and lives of those she shaped with her care and kindness.
