Miriam W. Smith

Miriam Wilson Smith, 80, of Huntersville, NC passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at her residence.
She was born on September 5, 1944 to Laura Alexander Wilson and John Hinman Wilson in north Mecklenburg County. Miriam attended Long Creek Elementary School and graduated from North Mecklenburg High School. She then attended Western Carolina College and Kings College in Charlotte, NC. She worked for Eastern Air Lines at Aberdeen Proving Ground where she met her future husband, Wilbur Smith. She was on loan to Sato Travel doing the ticketing for the government and military. She represented all of the American Flag Carriers and got passes on them allowing her to travel the world. After she was married, she moved to Washington, DC and continued to work for SATO, eventually becoming manager of 9 offices.
When she retired at 50, she moved from Washington, DC back home to Huntersville, NC and soon moved back into the house she grew up in. She and her husband lived a great retirement there.
She is survived by her husband, Wilbur Smith; sister Beverly Buchanan and her husband Julian Buchanan. She is also survived by her Southern brother Harry Smith and his wife Linda.
