Gail R. Williams passed away at Haywood Regional Medical Center on Sept. 4, 2026. Her brothers were present as well as Dez, her grandson.
Gail was the daughter of Alan and Rowena Roberson of Louisiana. Gail went to school in Colorado Springs before moving to Tucson, Arizona, where she met her husband Joe while he was serving in the Air Force. She attended the University of Arizona with the goal of becoming an elementary school teacher.
Later, after moving back to Clyde, NC, she continued her education at UNC-Asheville. After receiving her degree she first taught in Nebo and then at Waynesville Elementary for 30 years. She then continued her education at Western Carolina University and attained her masters in counseling. She then transitioned to being a school counselor, a position she loved, helping children for five years.
Gail was blessed with three daughters, Lee, Melanie and Anna. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bud, and two daughters, Melanie and Anna. In addition to Lee, she is survived by several grandchildren, Dez, John Marshall and Emily Claire.
