The communication department was presented with the highly sought after Academic Program of Excellence Award on Tuesday, April 28.
The Faculty & Staff Excellence Awards and Recognitions takes place every year towards the end of the semester.
The Academic Program of Excellence Award acknowledges the hard work and achievements of a department over a significant amount of time and is the last award presented at the ceremony.
“For the Department of Communication, this award represents the culmination of years where the faculty, staff and students have done great work, day in and day out, year after year,” said Department Head, Scott Eldredge.
“When we can stand at an end-of-year event like our Spring Student Showcase and see all the great work our students and faculty have produced, it’s easy to see why we were selected by our peers to receive this amazing recognition.”
Other winners from the department included Assistant Professor Vincent Russell, who won the Excellence in Community Engagement Award for his efforts in public service and outreach.
Professor Betty Farmer took home the Student Nominated Faculty of the Year Award, honoring her contributions at WCU and her retirement at the end of the semester.
