Donald Connelly, broadcast communication professor, received the Broadcast Education Association’s Best of Competition Award, the week of April 18, in Las Vegas, Nev.
The BEA national convention is held every April in Las Vegas, bringing together thousands of professors, researchers and media students from around the country. The conference is co-hosted by the National Association of Broadcasters’ national and international convention.
Connelly submitted a public service announcement, PSA, that he wrote, voiced, recorded, edited and mixed.
His PSA was about electric scooter and skateboard safety, from the perspective of Universal Electric Scooter and Skateboard Life Insurance Company.
”[I] thought it had some unique characteristics using ‘dark humor’ and satire to get the point across,” said Connelly.
Connelly is a five-time recipient of the BEA Best of Competition Award and a five-time recipient of the BEA Best of Festival Charles and Lucille King Family Foundation Award, the highest honor within the BEA.
Additionally, Connelly’s work in radio production has earned him the prestigious Gabriel Award from the Catholic Academy of Communication Arts Professionals.
