Western Carolina University will host a morning seminar on ethical leadership in the 21st century, Friday, Sept. 21, in the A.K. Hinds University Center theater.
The 10:10 a.m. event is free and open to the public.
The seminar features Cynthia Cooper, author of “Extraordinary Circumstances: The Journey of a Corporate Whistleblower.” Cooper is nationally known for her role in revealing the accounting scandal at WorldCom, a now-defunct telecommunications company that fraudulently reported finances. It led to the largest bankruptcy filing in U.S. history in 2002 and Cooper being named one of Time magazine’s “Persons of the Year.”
The seminar is sponsored by WCU’s Dixon Hughes Goodman Accountancy Program, Office of Student Success, College of Business and Center for the Study of Free Enterprise. For more information, contact Susan Swanger, director for the WCU Master of Accountancy Program, at swanger@wcu.edu or 828-227-3525.
