29th Graduate Research Symposium Awards 

The Graduate Research Symposium will close with an awards ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of our graduate students and recognizing the contributions of faculty, staff and others who value the mission and vision of graduate education at WCU.

Associate Provost Dr. Brandon Schwab, Graduate School Dean, Dr. Brian Kloeppel and Graduate School Associate Dean, Dr. Joy Bowers-Campbell will host the virtual event.

Curtis W. Wood Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring Award

The Curtis W. Wood Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring was established in 2015 thanks to the generosity and long-standing commitment to WCU graduate students from the esteemed Dr. Curtis Wood, Emeritus Professor of History, who served at WCU from 1969 to 2005.

Academic Paper Competition Awards

Academic papers are judged by a faculty committee representing varied disciplines. One award winner will be chosen from each category and presented with a cash award during the Graduate Research Symposium Virtual Awards Ceremony scheduled for Friday, March 26 at 11:30am EST. 

 

Poster Presentation Awards

Poster presentations will be judged by a faculty panel and cash awards will be presented to the top two presenters during the virtual Graduate Research Symposium Awards Ceremony on Friday, March 26 at 11:30am

 

 

Recognition of Three Minute Thesis Winners 

The purpose of the presentation style is to train students to condense and highlight their scholarly work to an educated, but diverse audience in preparation for job interviews, business interactions, and conversations with colleagues both inside and outside of their discipline.

 

The “Graddy” Award

 Each year the Graduate School and Research Team selects a staff member, faculty member, or campus unit to receive our Graddy Award. This award recognizes outstanding service or scholarship to the Graduate School.
