” A Long Walk to Water” & Porta-Canoe 2000

” A Long Walk to Water” is a book about Salva and his troubles in South Sudan during a Civil War. He has many challenges to overcome, but he has to be strong. He has to handle many deaths, many people trying to kill him,and lack of water. Salva has no family exept his uncle who eventually dies.  Salva has to act more mature to secure his place in the group he walks with, so he has to prove he’s worthy through his dangerous and treacherous journey to freedom and safety. But through all that has happened Salva finally made it through, and escaped to freedom safely.

Challenge 1:

When Salva was escaping to freedom he had to cross an alligator infested river. None of the refugees had anything to cross the river with, so many ended up dead, but if they had the Porta-Canoe 2000 the many refugees would not have perished. The Porta-Canoe 2000 is a one person canoe that can fold up to about the size of two pieces of paper. This canoe has wheels that make it easy to pull around. The canoe is made of a light weight, water proof plastic that is guaranteed to float. This canoe is an object which is guaranteed to make your life easier in emergency situations. The Porta-Canoe 2000 would’ve saved many lives that day.
