Western Carolina University’s Staff Senate is an elected body that represents the university’s permanent, non-faculty employees. The Staff Senate serves in an advisory capacity to the Chancellor and other university decision-making bodies and meets monthly to discuss staff members’ ideas and concerns. The Senate is committed to representing and communicating the needs and priorities of staff. The Senate also works to ensure that staff contributions are recognized at WCU. The Staff Senate values and respects the worth and contributions of all individuals at Western Carolina University.

The Staff Senate is an elected body that represents the university’s permanent, non-faculty employees.
The Staff Senate serves in an advisory capacity to the Chancellor and other university decision-making bodies. The Senate is committed to representing and communicating the needs and priorities of staff. The Senate also funds a scholarship for children of staff members. The Staff Senate monthly meetings are open to the campus community.
Elected Positions
The Staff Senate consists of 30 elected representatives of SHRA and EHRA non-faculty employees. Membership on the Staff Senate shall be drawn from permanent part-time and full-time employees who have completed probationary requirements.

Throughout the year, Staff Senate focuses on different campus-wide initiatives.
The initiatives are determined by keeping a pulse on the trending topics within our campus, system, and nationally.
