Summary of Novel:

The Old Willis Place

    BY: MARY DOWNING HAHN

Diana and Georgie are kids whose parents have disappeared and they are stranded. The mean lady that fired their parents and locked them in a cellar’s house is abandoned and unusable. There is a trailer on property and a girl and her dad move into the trailer and Diana instantly wants to become friends. Diana and Georgie have rules left behind… and one of them is to stay hidden. Diana breaks that rule and shows herself to Lissa which is the girl’s name. But from all those years in the wilderness Diana looks like a monster to Lissa. So Diana writes in Lissa’s diary, and tells her that she isn’t a monster and she’ll clean herself up and then they can meet. Diana does that and they become friends. But Lissa wants to go into the old Willis place (abandoned house). And the ghost of Ms. Willis (mean lady) is still in the parlor for revenge on Diana and Georgie. And Lissa lets her out. But Diana senses her own body and Georgie’s body and figures out she’s a ghost. So Lissa gets her dad to clean out the bodies and give them a proper burial so Diana and Georgie can come back alive. But once they come back alive, so does Ms. Willis and their parents. But Ms. Willis traps them, and then surprisingly asks for forgiveness. Diana, Georgie, their parents, and Ms. Willis  leave the property and go to live life.
